Someone recently asked me about the steel shelves on the walls around my back yard. I mentioned them when I discussed my process in RicĂ« Freeman Zachery's Creative Spark. They wanted to know if I made other stuff with steel and the answer is yes I do. Welding is kind of addicting. Anyway I thought I'd share some of the other steel items I’ve made and collected that are starting to take over my house.
If you look at my artwork you'll know I like rocks. Here I've made them into candle holders.
This rolling gate closes off the entry to my studio. A painted steel kimono hangs on it.
More candle holders. These sit in the fireplace on a large steel I-beam.
Some times I get carried away and wrap the walls.
Steel table with rock basket base.
Found objects.
Drill bit bouquet. The steel vase is part of some farm equipment.
Every metal artist has their pile of rusted junk.
Mail box.
Patio "chandelier".
Patio wall sconce made from c-channel, perforated metal and mica.
Railroad spike and antique glass insulator candle holder.
Backyard talisman.
Steel wrapped glass vase.
Wall grid.
Wall shelves.
Wall shelves with candles.
Antique shoe form.
Steel trellis.
The trellis makes wonderful shadows.
Concrete and steel patio dining table. Yes it's really heavy but it's on wheels.
The amazing Arizona sunset.
Doesn't that cloud look like a fire breathing dragon?
Thanks for visiting.

Beautiful work, very inspiring. How about some studio shots?
ReplyDeleteThanks - Floyd
Thank you Floyd. I'm in the process of overhauling (and purging) my studio as we speak. As soon as it's complete I promise I'll post photos.

ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful, inspiring work you do! I've always wanted to weld, and rocks are among my very favorite things- I'd love to spend some time just walking around your yard. And I'll bet your mailbox never gets knocked down!
ReplyDeleteThanks all for the compliments. It’s nice to be able to share what I do. The mailbox is one of the first things I designed. Sharmon, I can guarantee you that if you do start welding you won’t be able to stop.
