Photo Day

Photographing steel has many challenges; the biggest one being glare. So over the years my husband Gary and I have tried many, many ways to solve this problem. Here’s our latest…we actually set this up in our hallway between our kitchen and my living room/studio.

Lighting from the sides graze the piece minimizing the glare that would be created if the light was pointed straight at the piece.

This piece is the first of another new series called “Hang”. And of course I had to hang rocks in the first one I designed. I see this as a combination of my steel sculpture and my interest in making jewelry. Why does jewelry only have to adorn a person? Why can’t it adorn our walls? So this is the first of many (I hope) more pieces where I will suspend an object from a hanger of sorts….however I do think I will make a pendant like this…it could be pretty cool.
